Early Kindergarten Transition Program
Early Kindergarten Transition (EKT) is a school-based, family-oriented summer program designed to increase family engagement in school, improve children’s attendance and success in school.
Children attend school every morning for three weeks in summer. Parents or caregivers gather twice a week to meet school staff and discuss ways to support their child's learning. Interpreters are hired. Meals are provided. Child Care is offered during parent meeting times.
For summer 2018, the following schools will offer EKT: Boise-Eliot/Humboldt, Harrison Park, James John, Kelly, Lee, Lent, Marysville, Rigler, Scott, Sitton, Vestal, Whitman, Woodmere. Children who will be attending one of these schools in the fall are eligible to enroll in EKT. Submit application to school by May 15th.
*EKT at Cesar Chavez and Rosa Parks will start at the beginning of the school year and all families can participate.
SUN Community Schools and Multnomah County Library are major partners.
