Britni Locke
Britni Locke is the social worker at Ida B. Wells. She was born and raised in East County Gresham and she loves getting outdoors, snowboarding, reading, watching trashy reality TV, hiking and being a mom. She went to Portland State University for both undergrad and graduate programs and earned her undergraduate degree in English. Before coming to IBW, she worked in the school system, she worked with incarcerated kids by running writing groups. She said she found that a lot of the kids would talk about how they never knew that they liked reading, writing or thought they weren’t good at school until they were incarcerated. Locke says she decided she wanted to become a social worker because, “I found myself wondering, where were the supportive adults before incarceration to prevent that from happening?”
