I grew up in the NW corner of Georgia and attended Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY where I earned a B.A. in history.  After college, my love for history and mentoring youth took me down a natural path to education.  I earned an M.Ed. at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and taught high school history and social studies for 10 years.  Since my first teaching job in Denver, CO in the Cherry Creek School District, I have always worked in large comprehensive public high schools. I came to Oregon in 2000 from Colorado and taught at Sunset High School in Beaverton, OR, and eventually, became invested in creating and supporting school systems that center student's cultural identity and their intellectual, emotional, and physical well-being.  In 2006 I transitioned to the role of a school administrator and have served as both a high school Vice Principal and Principal since.  At Ida B. Wells-Barnett High School, I am the 11th grade administrator, support teaching and learning for the Math, Arts, Language Arts, and ELL (English Language Learners) Departments. Additionally, I facilitate the No Place for Hate Peer Facilitator Program and participate on the Community Equity Council as a school employee and also as a member of our community.  Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have about our school, your, or your student's, learning experience.
