Haven Kaplan-Miner is an English and AVID teacher. He has an undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Oregon and a Master’s degree in teaching from the University of Portland. He grew up in northeast Portland, near Grant High School, and has been teaching for eight years. Kaplan-Miner has also taught in Chicago as a 9th grade teacher, and taught 7th grade during the pandemic. Outside the classroom he loves hiking, coaching, basketball, and enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. His favorite movie is The Princess Bride, and his favorite book is The Phantom Tollbooth.
