PPS brothers cover presidential election for Iowa newspaper Two brothers from PPS were offered a great opportunity to work as “cub” journalists during the Iowa caucuses. Jack, an eighth-grader at Laurelhurst K-8, and his older brother Ben, a sophomore at Grant High School, spent the week of the caucuses meeting presidential candidates and gathering facts for their stories featured in the Waverly newspaper. Jack credits his new blue suit as the reason he scored an interview with Pete Buttigieg.
Grant’s Danny Fisher wins Truth Be Told Story Slam At the start of his story, Danny Fisher is at a blood drive, donating “the elixir of life.” At the end, he is nursing an eye injury that makes him look “like a monster for a few days.” The tale of what happens between those points earned the Grant High School senior first place in the Truth Be Told Story Slam held Thursday at Grant.
