Parent Advisory Council (TAGAC)
Guests are always welcome!
The TAG Advisory Council (TAGAC) reviews all aspects of the Portland Public Schools' Talented and Gifted programs and makes recommendations to the District with respect to TAG services in Portland Public Schools. Members include parents from all quadrants of the city with students in elementary, middle, and high school. The council seeks parent members that represent the demographics of the students served by the district. Visitors are always welcome. Meetings are held monthly during the school year, usually on the second Wednesday of the month from 6:30-8:00 p.m at district headquarters in the Windows Conference Room. See the current schedule in the sidebar to the right.
Invitation to Interested Parents:
The TAG Advisory Council is seeking parent members that represent the demographics of the students served by the district- including gender, cultural, and ethnic diversity.
For more information, contact the Chair, Tanya Awabdy, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The council's members continue an ongoing conversation with the PPS Talented and Gifted Department at monthly meetings. TAGAC organizes its work around the following areas:
Consistent identification and services for English Language Learner (ELL) students
Consistent identification and services for twice-exceptional (2E) students
Appropriate and consistent rate and level opportunities in all elementary schools
Accelerated learning opportunities in all middle and high schools
Predictable automatic TAG services
Council-approved results from these committees will be included in a yearly written report of the Council’s activities provided to the Program Director of Talented and Gifted Education K-12, the Superintendent and the School Board.
