6-8 Social Sciences

  • PPS' 6-8 social sciences team is engaging in a multi-year adoption process, with field testing occurring on 20/21 and on 21/22, and a full roll-out in school year 22/23. The mission of social sciences in Portland Public Schools is to provide all students with academic and authentic learning opportunities that both ignite their passions for learning and also enhance their abilities and motivations to contribute as citizens in their communities—from the school community to the neighborhood, city, state, national, and global communities.

How can I get involved in this adoption?

If you are an educator/administrator with PPS, additional committee recruitment will begin in early 2022. If you are interested in participating, please check back here in February 2022 or review Teacher/Admin Connect.

If you are a parent/student/guardian/community member, in Spring 2023 there will be opportunities to explore the curriculum through virtual vendor presentations. Please await additional dates and information.
