Learning Management Systems
A Learning Management System, or LMS, provides teachers and students with a digital platform for designing, organizing, and engaging in classroom instruction. In PPS we focus on two well developed LMS platforms; Canvas for our students and teachers in grades 6-12 and Seesaw for our K-5 classrooms. Both offer similar tools with age-appropriate navigation and engagement.
Used in combination with digital resources from the PPS Digital Toolkit, an LMS is used for developing and engaging classroom instruction for both in-person physical classrooms and online distance learning environments.
Seesaw (K-5)
Recommended classroom delivery platform for grades K-5. Seesaw is licensed and available for use at all levels grades K-12.
Canvas (6-12)
The classroom learning management platform for grades 6-12. Used for PPS professional development and licensed for all staff and 6-12th grade students. Canvas may also be used by teachers in grades 3-5 under a 2021/22 pilot learning program.
