Portland Public Schools ("PPS") is committed to making the information on our website accessible to individuals with disabilities in compliance with the requirements of Section  504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. To ensure compliance, we strive to design and maintain our website according to  Web Content Accessibility Guidelines  (WCAG) 2.0, Level AA.
 



Conformance Goals

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Portland Public Schools is partially conformant with WCAG 2.0 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the highest of accessibility standards. We continually assess the accessibility of the PPS website by the following approaches: 

  • Self-evaluation
  • External evaluation
     


Known limitations and on-going improvements

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the PPS website and resources, there may be some limitations. As of January, 2023, Portland Public Schools is working with the Office for Civil Rights to evaluate our website to ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
