Strengthening Our Southeast Schools
9/16/2022Dear Southeast PPS families,
Last spring the PPS School Board approved boundary changes for fall 2023 that expand access to middle schools, and strengthen enrollment at small elementary and dual-language immersion programs. We are now planning and implementing those changes and wanted to touch base with you about that process.
You’re receiving this because you have students at a southeast school, but you may not be impacted. Going forward, we will communicate specifically about changes that affect your school – although, again, they may not affect you directly. You can look-up your address here, and visit our new website for updates and helpful links about this implementation. We will provide answers to frequently asked questions, and will update those questions to reflect what we’re hearing from the community. Your principal is also a great source, and they will reach out to central departments with questions they need help answering. You can also connect with us directly via Let’s Talk.
We want to assure you that, although there may be some shifts and changes, this process will ensure adequate staffing and resources at your school. We also are planning community connections with Principals and will share those dates with each school community as they are finalized. Finally, a reminder that the middle school transfer cycle will open November 15. You will receive an individual letter about your student’s placement and transfer options in early November, and your counselors will be informed, trained, and ready to help you with any transition questions or concerns.
Thank you in advance for your support and patience throughout this implementation, and we look forward to connecting directly with you in your school community going forward.

Harrison Park Middle School Construction
We are excited to be getting ready to open Harrison Park Middle School in 2023-24 School Year. The Harrison Park Middle School conversion is fully underway and currently in multiple stages of development. The project will convert Harrison Park from a K-8 to a middle school housing grades 6-8. An initial phase of work occurred during the summer of 2022. This work included cosmetic upgrades to the main entry, main office and cafeteria space as well as minor parking lot upgrades. The design team is currently working on design development for future phases of construction. The team is anticipating a multi-year, phased construction approach to fully convert the building. A mid-process cost estimate is in progress while the team continues to make progress defining the project scope.
