Dir. Kohnstamm Scenario - REVISED
Dir. Kohnstamm Scenario with Custer Park Modification - REVISED
Dual Assignment Analysis - REVISED 4.21.16
Scenario Assumptions for Phased Implementation
The following assumptions were used to estimate future enrollment under the current boundaries, under Director Kohnstamm’s proposed scenario, and the proposed Bridlemile dual assignment scenario.
Current State
- PSU enrollment forecasts are used for each school
- 24% of Bridlemile students eligible for transfer to Gray/West Sylvan continue to participate in Bridlemile guarantee
Director Kohnstamm’s Scenario
- PSU enrollment forecasts are used as the base for each school
- Maplewood feeds to Jackson instead of Gray Middle School
- Bridlemile is a split feeder and feeds to both West Sylvan/Lincoln and Gray/Wilson (see map). Because of this, we estimate Gray would have 60 rather than 104 non-neighborhood transfers.
- All middle school and high school changes begin implementation in the 2017-18 SY. Elementary school boundary changes begin in 2016-17.
- Grandfathering lessens the immediate impact of boundary change at all grade levels.
- Note: A technical error meant that Gray enrollment growth in this scenario was underestimated; this has been corrected in the revised documents.
- Option: Custer Park area goes to Hayhurst instead of Rieke
- Option: Current West Sylvan students could continue to Lincoln for HS, which effectively delays start of implementation until 2019
Dual Assignment Scenario
- PSU enrollment forecasts are used as the base for each school
- Maplewood feeds to Jackson instead of Gray Middle School
- The entire Bridlemile boundary has the option to feed to either West Sylvan/Lincoln OR Gray/Wilson.
- Assumes increased interest in Gray/Wilson, with 45% rather than 24% of eligible 5th grade Bridlemile students participating in voluntary transfer to Gray and 30% rather than 14% of eligible 8th graders choosing to attend Wilson rather than Lincoln.
- Note: In the revised documents, the Bridlemile dual assignment was adjusted to begin in 2017-18 rather than in 2016-17.
- Note: A technical error meant that Gray enrollment growth was overestimated because part of Bridlemile was mistakenly assigned to Gray/Wilson; this issue has been corrected in the revised documents.
