Portland Public Schools District Student Council
The District Student Council's (DSC) Mission is to elevate and unify student voice within the district, increase student involvement, and facilitate collaboration and interaction between various PPS student groups and PPS leadership. The DSC is made up of PPS high school students who meet bi-weekly at the Blanchard Education Service Center prior to PPS Board of Education meetings.
Nathaniel Shue serves as the active Student Representative on the Board of Education elected body for the 2020-2021 academic year. Nathaniel Shue also coordinates the District Student Council throughout the school year.
The core functions of PPS Student Council include:
- Elevate and leverage student input on school and district issues to PPS leadership,
- Incorporate student perspectives in board meetings and policy, in support of the Student Board of Education Representative,
- Hold an annual student summit
