Retention Bonus Stipend
Updated January 18, 2022Effective January 18, 2022, the retention bonus stipend will continue for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year. The updated pay period chart with minimum work days has been updated below.
Please note, the 1/16/2022 - 2/15/2022 pay period will be reviewed in 2 retention bonus periods (see below for details).
PPS Substitute Office
Updated November 10, 2021Beginning November 16, 2021, substitute educators will be eligible to receive a bonus if they work a given number of days in a pay period. The stipend will be equivalent to:
One day - if worked the minimum days for eligibility (see chart below)And
Three days - if a substitute works all available days in a pay period
Bonus stipend days will count towards health insurance eligibility for the 2022-2023 school year.
There will be 2 types of stipends available:- Minimum Work Day (see chart below)
- All Available Days Worked
For both options, if the required days are at Incentive Schools, the monthly stipend will be slightly increased. Additionally, you will get the daily incentive pay for these schools.
Due to winter break, the 12/16 - 1/15 pay period will have a slightly reduced number of minimum days.Pay Period (Regular Substitute Educator)

Stipend amounts will be as follows:
Regular School Stipend:1 Additional Day = $225.00
All Available Days Worked = $700.00
Incentive School Stipend:1 Additional Day = $240.00
All Available Days Worked = $750.00
*The daily incentive pay for working a half day or full day at one of the incentive schools still applies and is separate from this retention bonus.
*To qualify for the incentive school bonuses, ALL days must be at an incentive school (i.e. 10 days at an incentive school for the 11/16-12/15 pay period to qualify for the $240 stipend).

Are long-term substitutes eligible?
Yes, daily (1-10 days) and long-term (11-60 days) substitutes are eligible for the retention bonus stipend.

Do sick days count?
No, sick day do not count towards the bonus.

How are half days counted?
Half days are counted as such, so two half days will be equivalent to one day. To be eligible for the 10 day minimum stipend bonus, a substitute can work 8 full days and 4 half days, for a total of 10 full days.

Will the stipend be available in the second semester?
Yes, the retention bonus is continuing for the second semester.

Will there be retro pay?
The retention bonus stiped will begin November 16, 2021, so there will be no retro pay.
