PAT members who are eligible for the PPS Work Share program are working a reduced schedule. A reduced schedule means you are not expected to work during the time you have reduced hours. All eligible employees will have their schedules reduced by 20% per week. If you typically work 5 days a week, this means you will most likely not work on Fridays.

Your weekly hours will be reduced by 20%, and your workload necessarily will be reduced. Please work with your supervisor on questions about how this reduction will affect your workload.

Work expectations and compensation are adjusted accordingly.

PAT members who are not eligible for the PPS Work Share program continue working their full hours and should discuss their schedule with their supervisor.

    Dear Coaches,

We would like to thank you for your commitment to serving students and families. Many of you have continued to prepare for the spring sports seasons, and we’re grateful for the examples of coaches staying connected to students during this difficult time.

We would like to remind you that it’s important you continue to practice and encourage social distancing, while also finding creative ways to support students and their passion for athletics.

You will receive your spring coaching stipend in the manner in which you indicated during the clearance process. Below you will find a general outline of our expectations for the spring season. It is meant to serve as an example of the tasks that we expect our coaches to complete as we work to meet our students’ needs and ODE guidelines. Our focus is on ensuring that students and families are informed and stay connected.

If you need assistance completing these tasks, please contact your Athletic Director.

    1. Head Coaches - will connect with ALL families, athletes, and coaches in the program weekly. The Athletic Director will be included in weekly communication to students and families. The communication will include the following:

      1. Updates - As received from the building Athletic Director, the PIL Office, and the OSAA.

        1. Ex: OSAA will meet to evaluate the possibility of an abbreviated spring season on April 1st. All practices/contests remain suspended through April 28th. For the most updated information from OSAA, please visit  http://www.osaa.org/coronavirus

        2. There is no building or facility access, and coaches can not organize or encourage in-person group workouts/activities

        3. Social Distancing Protocol

      2. Connections - share why it’s important to stay connected.

        1. Weekly check-in with players as a group and individually.  Staff are to contact students exclusively via

          1. Remind phone call, or

          2. Google Hangout

        2. Please review the following PPS Policies and/or expectations: Student and Staff Acceptable Use of District Technology Policy (AUP)PPS Professional Conduct for Adults and Students and Digital Citizenship

        3. Relationships with teammates, coaches, and athletes are at the heart of the impactful and lasting memories of athletics.

        4. It’s critical that coaches reach out and connect with students to keep their physical, mental, and social health thriving. Shout outs, challenge winners, gratitude opportunities, player/coach spotlights

      3. Learn - provide a resource for them to learn something (motivational speech, sport-specific technique videos, feedback on film of themselves, etc.)

      4. Physical Training - encourage athletes to continue working on their physical health while practicing social distancing (you can provide workout ideas/videos/etc., but you cannot coordinate practices or workouts for athletes)

      5. Mental and Emotional Health - encourage athletes to pay attention to their mental health! Ex: goal setting, vision boards, download and use Headspace or another free meditation app, health inventories, inspirational speeches from athletes or non-athletes, brain games/puzzles, etc.

      6. Resources -

        1. PPS Coronavirus Updates

        2. https://www.positivecoach.org/

        3. OSAA Health and Safety Regarding Coronavirus

The work we do to support students and families is a vital part of the community. I am so proud of PIL Athletics, and thank you again for your support and leadership.
