• Substitutes - Long-Term Substitute Educators
    March 30, 2020

This information is for Long-Term Substitute Educators. As a reminder, following the Substitute Collective Bargaining Agreement Article 9, after working ten (10) consecutive days in the same assignment, the workday and schedule for full-day substitutes shall be the same as that for regular teachers.

Long-term Substitute Educators will continue to receive the extended rate of pay as outlined in the COVID-19 Substitutes - Teacher, Paras, and Secretaries communication. Since you are in a long-term job, it is our expectation that you follow what is outlined in the email to PAT members on March 27 regarding work expectations. We recognize the proposed schedule begins today (Monday, March 30), however, all training is designed to be delivered asynchronously to accommodate your schedule, and you should plan to spend about 2.5 to 3 hours a day working on these tasks in addition to any planning that you might choose to do.

PPS and PAT leadership are continuing discussions regarding expectations around the work day and responsibilities for members. For now we can say that we are making every effort to build maximum flexibility in the program so that educators can serve their students and also take care of their own families and themselves during this particularly challenging time.

If you have any additional questions, contact your building administrator first, and if they are unable to answer your question(s), contact the Substitute Office at ppssub@pps.net.
